An expression of God’s love is in the way we love people. So interesting to learn that we experience God’s love and God’s love is made evident in our lives not just through praise and worship, reading the bible, or prayer but in the way we love each other. How beautiful it is to know that God’s love is displayed and experienced in the way we love each other. It’s why the bible says that if we say we love God and hate a fellow believer we are a lie 1 John 4:20.
This is why God loves relationships so much and why there is so much emphasis on relationships and how to treat people in the word of God. God’s love is made perfect, experienced, felt, it’s tangible, and it’s made evident in the natural by the way we love each other. Love covers a multitude of sins, love changes the heart and minds of people towards God. In the old testament even when God sent judgment on his people it was out of love, for Godly correction produces righteousness (Hebrews 12:11).
God demonstrated the ultimate power of love when he sent his one and only son to bring us back to right standing with him. This is true love. God loves us into submission and he loves us first so that we love him back. Oh, the true power of love is far too great for us to understand, but we can come pretty close by experiencing love with each other.
God’s love is the standard of love we should use in all of our relationships. He tells us what love looks like so we can confidently reject anything that’s not it. If the love is forced and not given if the love is selfish instead of having sacrifice, if the love comes with division and not reconciliation then it’s not true love. Does love with the person come freely? Or do you feel the need to perform for it? Is love with the person selfish, that is looking for what it can get all time? Does love come with a lot of division that is always breaking up and always separating? If so it’s not true love. Let love go to grow to be perfected in God.
9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.1 John 4:9-10 NLT
